David Michael Dick
Dave Dick, age 61, passed away on October 30, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. Dave, a long time Sacramento resident, grew up in an Air Force family and traveled throughout Europe and the United States. He attended Ankara American High School in Ankara, Turkey and the American University of Paris, Paris, France. Following his graduation from Ohio State University, Dave was commissioned through the AFROTC program and he served as an Information Officer with Strategic Air Command during the Vietnam era.
Following his separation from the Air Force, Dave came to the Sacramento area. Not long after that he joined the California Department and Game department as an information officer and later as the editor of the department’s magazine, “Outdoor California.”
Following his retirement, Dave enjoyed traveling, hiking the Sierras’, taking care of his “critters,” and golf. He was especially proud of his hole in one. Throughout all these years Dave kept in touch with his friends from Anaka and Paris, often attending their class gatherings. Dave is survived by his brother, Bill Dick of Lakewood, WA and Deborah Dick of University Place, WA. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Connie Clark, Tara Pierce, and Mickey Fausett, his dearest friends, for the love, care, and compassion they gave Dave in his final days.
Reflecting Dave’s love of wildlife His family asks that donations in his name be made to the National Wildlife Society. In keeping with Dave’s wishes there will be no services. Internment will be in the family plot, Woodlawn Cementary, Claremore, Oklahoma.
